DISCLAIMER: Shoujo Kakumei Utena is property of B-Papas, Saitou Chiho, Shogaku-kan, and TV Tokyo. This site is a fan opinion site only and none of the writings contained within are an official interpretation of Ruka or Utena. This fansite Seraphitus copyright to Gerald Tarrant, 2001.

I made Seraphitus because, frankly, there aren't any Ruka sites out there. Any information on Ruka on the net has to be found on Juri sites, and while I have nothing against Juri, Ruka is, in my opinion, a pivotal character to the series and deserves to have some kind of little shrine. So here it is ^_^

Tsuchiya Ruka is, in terms of anime appearance, the most minor character in Shoujo Kakumei Utena (except for maybe Tatsuya, Wakaba's "Onion Prince"). He appears in a total of two episodes, 28 and 29, then disappears as quickly as he has come and no mention is ever made of him again. In terms of impact, however, Ruka is probably one of the most influential characters on the plot of the anime. How does the most minor of all minor characters succeed in changing such a large part of the storyline? [read and find out! XD] Ruka does appear in an even more minor sidestory in the manga, but this site will deal with his anime appearance only, as the manga Juri and Ruka have a totally different storyline.

This site will focus on Ruka's relationships with Juri and Shiori and why he even appears in the anime at all. There will not be any of the normal "expected" tidbits on this site, such as image galleries and other things. I only have a limited supply of Ruka images and I don't want to steal images off other people's sites. There are also a good number of Juri galleries which feature Ruka images which I have linked to in the links section. This is basically a text information site.

Ruka's duel chorus, Tenshi Androgynous (The Angel Androgynous), constantly refers to antique and ancient myth, which is where I got the stylistic inspiration for this site. Seraphitus(a), taken from an allusion in one of the lines of the duel chorus, was a mythical androgynous creature from a book written in the 1800's. (More detail is given on this in the duel chorus analysis). The picture on the front page is a drawing of a the male body by the famous Renaissance inventor and artist Leonardo daVinci.

Anyway, this is just my tiny web tribute to Tsuchiya Ruka, so please enjoy! This site probably won't be updated very often, if at all, since it's mainly an information only site, but if you have questions or comments you can contact me at lordofmerentha@yahoo.com.
