Anyone can participate in these challenges, as long as you're willing to write and stick with it. Winners will receive a web button graphic to place on their homepage. You are considered a "winner" if you complete a challenge, so there can be any number of winners. All challenge fics will be archived in the Crimson Legend archive.

The home for the challenges is the Fushigi Yuugi Fanfiction Mailing List. If you're not a member of the list, you can still participate in the challenges by first emailing Gerald Tarrant at lordofmerentha@yahoo.com that you will participate and then sending in your story to the fanfic submission address for the archive (c_legend@yahoo.com). However, we strongly encourage all FY fanfiction writers to join the FY Fanfic ML, as it is a good place for discussion and feedback on your fanfiction.

If anyone has read my fic Butterfly's Sleep and its sequel, Fate, they'll know that I swear at the end never to do another sequel. Well, a couple nights ago I got some plot bunnies that wouldn't let go, so I'll be doing a third installment to bring the series to a trilogy.

I told QS and Laurelgand about this, and since I'm known for writing...fast, they both decided to see if they could write a fic to keep up with me. Then were were reminiscing about when we used to have challenges on the FY Fanfic ML, and QS decided that it was a good idea to do another one.

Basically, I'll promise to plan my story to be ten chapters and I'll write/post one chapter per week. Meanwhile, QS and Laurel will also write one chapter per week of THEIR story and post it. That's the challenge. Anyone who accepts the challenge is saying that they're willing to try to write and post SOMETHING once every week for ten weeks. Posting will begin on Sunday, January 27, and continue for the next ten weeks after that.

This "something" doesn't HAVE to be ten chapters of a series. It could be ten one-shots. It could be a five-parter, three one shots, and another two-parter. As long as you post something every week for 10 weeks. The only requirement is that you MUST finish your stories...can't leave them hanging and work on something else. Basically, this challenge is to get people writing. One chapter a week isn't too tough of a thing to handle, and it could be fun if we have a whole bunch of people participating.
